{"id":693,"date":"2020-07-01T21:52:25","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T21:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journals.law.harvard.edu\/blackletter\/?p=693"},"modified":"2021-11-03T21:31:18","modified_gmt":"2021-11-03T21:31:18","slug":"2020callforcontent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journals.law.harvard.edu\/blackletter\/2020callforcontent\/","title":{"rendered":"Submissions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Harvard BlackLetter Law Journal (HBLJ) is excited to announce the 2021-2022 Call for Submissions for our 38th volume.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The theme of this year\u2019s volume will be \u201cAfro-Latin America and the Law: Pan American Connections.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We encourage the submission of papers that deal with the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comparative experiences of Blackness and the law in Latin America and the United States<\/li>\n<li>Immigrations and Afro-Latin American populations<\/li>\n<li>Comparative legal histories: how did the US and Latin America influenced each other on topics related to race, Blackness, and the law?<\/li>\n<li>Constitutional Change and State Recognition of people of African descent in Latin America<\/li>\n<li>Afro-Latin American governance: presence and exclusion in the state\u2019s institutions<\/li>\n<li>Anti-Discrimination Law and Afro-Latin Americans<\/li>\n<li>Afro-Latin Americans, courts, carceral system, and police reform<\/li>\n<li>The legal construction of race\/Blackness in Latin America<\/li>\n<li>Legal history and people of African descent in Latin America<\/li>\n<li>Afro-Latin Americans\u2019 legal activism<\/li>\n<li>Any other topic that touches on Afro-Latin Americans and the law from a perspective that develops connections between different countries in the Americas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Submissions should be no more than 30 pages. We will be accepting electronic submissions only. The deadline to send us your paper is January 15, 2022.
