The law requires voters to present certain photo identification before casting their ballots.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/detroit.cbslocal.com\/2014\/10\/20\/un-experts-to-discuss-detroit-water-shutoffs\/\">UN Experts To Discuss Detroit Water Shutoffs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two\u00a0United Nations human rights experts will head to Detroit to investigate possible human rights violations. As a temporary fix during its restructuring period,\u00a0Detroit shut\u00a0off water to\u00a0its residents that had\u00a0not\u00a0paid their overdue water bills.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/10\/18\/nyregion\/school-district-on-long-island-told-it-must-teach-immigrants.html?ref=education\">School District on Long Island Is Told It Must Teach Immigrants<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In response to reports of Hispanic children being turned away from public school classes on Long Island, the New York State Education Department sent a letter to all New York school districts requiring the enrollment of children\u00a0regardless of their immigration status. The Department&#8217;s Commissioner ordered a full investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/technology\/fbi-director-warns-against-cellphone-encryption\/2014\/10\/16\/34a9eea0-5548-11e4-b86d-184ac281388d_story.html\">FBI director warns against cellphone encryption<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As companies make\u00a0the move to encrytpying\u00a0smartphone data and operating systems, FBI Director James Comey made a public warning\u00a0against the process.\u00a0The Director claimed that encrypted data could\u00a0stall criminal cases and even allow suspects to walk free. Proponents\u00a0of encryption, however,\u00a0claim that it\u00a0protects consumer privacy and the transmission of personal data.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/new-york\/brooklyn\/wrongfully-convicted-man-starts-new-life-mom-home-cooking-article-1.1977215\">&#8216;It tasted like freedom&#8217;; Wrongfully convicted Brooklyn man begins first day of new life with mom&#8217;s home cooking<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After serving almost three decades in prison for kidnapping and murder, David McCallum walked away a free man last week. The Brooklyn District Attorney&#8217;s office removed McCallum&#8217;s murder conviction after determining his innocence. McCallum&#8217;s friend Willie Stuckey, who died in 2001 while in prison,\u00a0also had his conviction removed for the crime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Supreme Court Allows
