On February 27, ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo issued a report of his investigation into allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.\u00c2\u00a0 He requested that the Pre-Trial Chamber issue summonses to Ahmad Harun, former head of the Sudanese “Darfur Security desk” State and Locality Security Committees in Darfur, and to Ali Muhammad Ali ABD-AL-RAHMAN (aka Ali KUSHAYB), a Janjaweed leader and member of the Sudanese military Popular Defence Force.\u00c2\u00a0 The men face indictment for 51 counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes based upon their participation in and recruitment for attacks on and persecution of civilian populations in Darfur in violation of the Rome Statute.<\/p>\n
