Luce and CornerStone Apparel (doing business as TCEC and Papaya Clothing, respectively) for\u00a0infringing on one of\u00a0<em>its<\/em>\u00a0protected designs.<\/p>\n<p>The suit\u00a0centers around the pattern\u00a0on Ikat printed harem pants, and while the specific items of clothing potentially\u00a0infringing on Forever 21\u2019s protected designs are not identified in the complaint, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/style\/forever-21-files-copyright-infringement-lawsuit-against-copycat-companies-180735603.html\">Yahoo! Style<\/a> contains pictures of the allegedly infringing Papaya pants that contain a seemingly similar style to those offered by Forever 21. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.law.harvard.edu\/jsel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/78\/2017\/02\/Forever-21-Complaint.pdf\">According to the complaint\u00a0filed in early 2017 in the Central District Court of California<\/a>, Forever 21 claims that both companies infringed on its copyrighted design, causing it to\u00a0lose\u00a0profits and harming its reputation as a\u00a0designer and seller of &#8220;innovative, fashionable clothing.&#8221; \u00a0\u00a0The fast fashion powerhouse is requesting the destruction of the allegedly infringing clothing, damages for the defendants&#8217; profits, and attorneys&#8217; fees.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tyler Bittner is an Entertainment Highlight Contributor for the Harvard Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law and a current first year student at Harvard Law School (Class of 2019).<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As reported by\u00a0The Fashion Law, in an ironic turn of events, retailer Forever 21, which has been sued over 50 times in recent years for copying others&#8217; protected designs, has filed suit against C.
