This article examines the hidden costs of intergovernmental contracts premised on section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (“INA”)3 and are colloquially known as “287(g) agreements.” This article is narrowly focused on the American Southeast geographic area and identifies the direct, indirect, and nonmonetary costs associated with 287(g) agreements.
