Harvard Business Law Review (HBLR)

The Harvard Business Law Review (HBLR) aims to be the premier journal covering the laws of business organization and capital markets. HBLR will publish articles from professors, practitioners, and policymakers on corporate law and governance, securities and capital markets law, financial regulation and financial institutions, law and finance, financial distress and bankruptcy, and related subjects.

Submissions

HBLR stands at the intersection of law and business and is committed to publishing research and commentary on a wide range of developments in business and commercial law. HBLR welcomes submissions from all members of the business law community, including students, academics, practitioners, regulators, and lawmakers.

Instructions

  • Authors should submit their articles in Microsoft Word format through Scholastica. Additionally, please use Scholastica to keep us updated about your article’s availability and any competing offer deadlines.
  • Submissions without a resume or CV will not be reviewed. Cover letters are optional but preferred.

Length Limitations

  • HBLR welcomes both full length articles and shorter notes; however, HBLR strongly prefers articles under 25,000 words in length — the equivalent of 50 law review pages — including text and footnotes.

Citation Format

  • Manuscript citations must conform to the most recent edition of The Bluebook.

Review Process

  • HBLR carefully reviews all submissions that it receives and notifies authors of decisions via email.
  • If you would like to request an expedited review of your article, please indicate this desire upon submission.
