Meet The Volume 49 Team
Sean-Michael Pigeon, Editor-in-Chief
Sean Pigeon is a third-year law student from Texas, who graduated with honors from Yale in 2021. Before law school, he worked for the Manhattan Institute and National Review. He spent his last two summers at Vartabedian, Hester & Haynes, where he will return after clerking for the Texas Supreme Court and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
John Erskine, Deputy Editor-in-Chief
John Erskine is a 3L from Virginia. He studied Biochemistry and Computer Science at the University of Virginia, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, before coming to Harvard. Before law school, he worked as an analyst at General Dynamics Information Technology. He spent last summer at Mayer Brown and will clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals after graduation.
John Hirl, Articles Chair
John Hirl is a third-year law student from Iowa, who graduated summa cum laude from Drake University in 2020. After college, he spent time in the Iowa legislature and executive branch before coming to HLS. He spent his summer at Sullivan & Cromwell, where he will return after graduating and clerking on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Aaron Reid, Per Curiam Director
Aaron is in his third-year at Harvard Law School. Originally from Verdigris, Oklahoma, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with degrees in Industrial & Systems Engineering and Letters. Aaron spent his last two summers with the Becket Fund in Washington, D.C and O”Melveny & Myers in Dallas. After graduation, he will clerk on the Supreme Court of Texas.
Christian Carson, Notes Editor
Christian is a third-year law student from Ross, California. He holds an A.B. in English from Harvard College. After graduation, he will work at Sullivan & Cromwell’s New York office before clerking on the Sixth Circuit.
Brooke Frank, Managing Editor
Brooke Frank is a third-year law student at HLS, where she serves as the President of Christian Fellowship. She graduated from Baylor in 2023 as a University Scholar, with degrees in Political Science, Sociology, and Poverty Studies. She has worked in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, in the District of Massachusetts Public Corruption Unit and the District Attorney’s office in Waco, Texas.
Mason Laney, Managing Editor
Mason Laney is in his third year at Harvard Law. Before coming to law school, Mason graduated from Wheaton College, where he was extensively involved with student government affairs. He has worked with the Senate Judiciary Committee under Sen. Mike Lee and Sen. Eric Schmitt and spent last summer with Latham & Watkins. He is also the lead of a new podcast, Approach the Bench.
Coy Ozias, Managing Editor
Coy graduated from Princeton in 2018 and spent five years at the Defense Intelligence Agency before coming to Harvard Law School as a member of the class of 2026. He was a part of the Charles Fried Memorial Team which won the 2025 Ames Moot Court Competition. He spent his summers with AZA, Williams & Connolly, and Kellogg Hansen. He will clerk on the Eleventh Circuit after graduating.
Frank Fusco, Chief Operations Officer
Frank is a third-year at HLS who graduated from Bates College in 2019 with a B.A. in Politics. He current serves on the board of the Harvard Law Republicans, the Harvard Law Catholic Students Association, and the Federalist Society. He spent his summers with Kellogg Hansen and Quinn Emmanuel.
