How to Get Involved
HLPR is run and edited by students at Harvard Law School. All HLS students—including members of all class years, LLMs, joint degree candidates, and transfer students—are welcome to join. All members spend at least their first semester as junior editors providing substantive and technical edits on articles, after which they may apply for positions on the policy, online, management, and technical teams and for leadership positions on article teams.

About the Teams
Articles
Performs two rounds of edits for each article, including a substantive edit focused on organization and argumentation and a technical edit focused on style and accurate sourcing.
Every HLPR member spends at least their first semester as a junior editor on an article team, and is then eligible to apply to serve as an article editor or senior article editor, in addition to positions on other teams (see below). The articles teams are run by executive article editors.
Management
Oversees administrative tasks for the journal ranging from recruitment to publication. The management team liaises with the HLS Dean of Students Office; runs the HLPR mentoring program; and plans journal edits, social events, and lectures.
After one semester as a junior editor, a member may apply to serve as a managing editor. The managing team is run by an executive managing editor.
Online
Responsible for the journal’s entire online presence, including the blog and social media.
After one semester as a junior editor, a member may apply to serve as an online editor or senior online editor responsible for writing one or two short blog posts each semester, editing online publications, recruiting guest bloggers, managing social media accounts, and improving the website. The online team is run by an executive online editor.
Policy
Reviews submissions and student notes for publication, develops the theme for each issue, and solicits authors for upcoming issues.
After one semester as a junior editor, a member may apply to serve as a policy editor or as submissions chair. The policy team is run by an executive policy editor.
Technical
Trains junior editors in copyediting according to the Bluebook, Chicago Manual of Style, and our internal style guide. Ensures high-quality technical edits and conducts final reviews of articles.
After one semester as a junior editor, a member may apply to serve as a technical editor. The technical team is run by one or two executive technical editors.
